1.4542 (17-4PH®), S17400 | Datasheet | METALCOR

Description 1.4542 / AISI 630 / 17-4PH® is a martensitic chromium-nickel-stainless steel, stabilized with niobium. Special properties Martensitic precipitation hardenable chromium-nickel-copper steel possessing high strength and toughness. Further strengh increments can be obtained by cold forming, followed by a precipitation hardening treatment.

17-4 H900 | Vested Metals

17-4 H900 has excellent mechanical properties and is inexpensive relative to comparable high-nickel, non-ferrous alloys. It's corrosion resistance is generally comparable to 304 …

AISI 630

17-4 PH is manufactured in several strength levels, for example: in solution annealed (AT) and hardened versions (H900, H925, H1025, H1075, H1100, H1150, H1150M). We store this steel in solution-annealed design, as well as in condition H1025 and H1150.

17-4

STAINLESS STEEL 17-4 See Pricing 17-4 stainless is an age-hardening martensitic stainless combining high strength with the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Hardening is achieved by a short-time, simple low-temperature treatment. Unlike conventional martensitic stainless steels, such as type 410, 17-4 is quite weldable.

Stainless Steel

The most well known precipitation hardening steel is 17-4 PH. The name comes from the additions 17% Chromium and 4% Nickel. This shrinking is approximately 0.05% for condition H900 and 0.10% for H1150. Typical mechanical properties achieved for 17-4 PH after solution treating and age hardening are given in the table on the attached page

Technical Reference on Hydrogen Compatibility of Materials

Some of the common alloys are referred to by the chromium and nickel content, such as 17-4 PH (AISI type 630) and 15-5 PH (ASTM XM- 12), the designation "PH" indicates its status as a precipitation-hardening composition. The Custom 4xx alloys represent another family of tradenames from this class of alloys.

The martensitic PH stainless steel of the Type 17-4 PH can be obtained with a wide range of mechanical properties by suitable heat treatment in the tempera- ture range 900°-1150°F (482°-621°C) (Refs. 2-5). This steel retains its useful strength up …

17-4 PH stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel.

MATERIAL DESCRIPTION 17-4 PH is a martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel with additions of copper (Cu), niobium (Nb) and tantalum (Ta). The grade combines high strength and hardness values with moderate corrosion resistance. Different heat treatment temperatures can optimize mechanical properties, e.g. yield strength at 1100 – 1300MPa.

What is the difference between H-900 and H-925 in 17-4? Heat …

#1 We are testing the 17-4 material, and have a difference of opinion in the heat treating. The heat treater told us that the "aging process" of the 17-4, H-900 would achieve 42-43 RC in a 4 hour processing. But, according to my steel supplier specs H-900 is supposed to be a 1 hour process, and H-925 is a 4 hour process.
